KAH Whiskey Tumblers are sold in pairs.
Designed to fit perfectly in the user’s hand, each glass is mouth-blow, hand painted with gold lustre and fired in the kiln, leaving them a slightly warped cylinder.
These glasses make the perfect gift.
The maker, Katie-Ann Houghton, is a local, and having trained in Sydney, Los Angeles and Adelaide now sometimes works out of a glassblowing studio on Pittwater Road.
Traditional glassblowing is a rare art. The Venetian method Houghton uses involves heating glass over a roaring furnace and blowing down a long, thin pipe to inflate the glass into a bubble-like shape which is then manipulated into form, which is what gives each piece it's distinctive touch and sets it apart from new techniques which use molds.
Hand-wash to protect the gold lustre.
